Planning a Staircase? Where to start…?

The staircase indeed is one of the biggest element in your house. Some people think of staircase as a part of the building such as walls, floors, windows or doors. And they are right on the one hand – because usually it is necessary to think of stairs already when you start to build your house. You need to plan your staircase the same time you plan the rooms for your house and think about where the walls should be built.

On the other hand – you can think of the stairs as a piece of furniture. In that case stairs are mostly planned when there are walls and floors already built. Before that there are only the place for the stairs planned. This situation also happens when people choose to buy ready made house without the staircase in it.

The common thing in both these situations is that whether you build your house or looking for a house which has already built – you may need a staircase in it. So, you may have same questions like – what to do? From where to start? What type of staircase I really want and (even above my desires) – what do I need?

First you need to figure out what style of staircase you prefer or what style or type of stairs will better fit to your house. The best way to think this out is to look at some examples of ready made stairs. You can search the internet for many different staircase pictures and you will definitely find some you like. Or even better if you have an interior design specialist (designer), in that case you can ask your designer for advice or even for some drawings. Then you will have some rough drawing for your staircase and it will be easier for you to look through the thousands of staircase images on the internet.

What you also need to decide is whether you need a functional stairway which is not a main design element in your house or you are ready to invest more money and afford a real piece of art in your hall or living room. Winstaco is the company specialized in manufacturing bespoke staircases with metal support carcass (middle support spine – usually free standing staircases) with wooden treads on top. We offer all species of wood (oak, pine, mahagony, etc.), nevertheless treads can be also manufactured in many different shapes and we offer a large variety of materials such as glass, marble, granite and metal.

On our staircases we usually put stainless steel balustrades or wrought iron balustrades (industrial forging or handmade forging) and it is possible to put glazed balustrade as well. Balustrades are provided with a wooden handrail or a metal handrail. Our advantage is ability to manufacture wooden handrails in any curves and shapes, and it will take the exact shape of your staircase.

The carcass – spine type has been applied mainly in manufacturing exclusive and expensive stairs. We manufacture fully glazed staircases where treads and balustrades are made of glass, creating the whole staircase, where no other support is needed. Once installed we leave you being a proud owner of the unique staircase and you are becoming a living testimony that staircases can be a true art…
